IT was a clash of titans as Government College Ibadan (GCI) Old Boys Cricket Club took on BRF Cricket Club of Ibeju Lekki for the GTAssure T20 cricket tournament at the Tafawa Balewa Square Cricket Oval on Sunday.That was exactly one week after GCI dethroned BRF as Lagos champion in the CCC Super Four Mini-League. GCI won the toss and decided to bowl. Femi Solebo did not waist time in announcing his purpose at the crease, taking Seun Odeku to the cleaners by getting 11 off the first over of the match.Onikoyi Ademola only managed nine runs from seven balls before he departed and brought in captain Endurance Ofem to the crease. Solebo departed on 45 with team total on 77, while Jide Bejide joined Ofem but departed shortly for two after being clean bowled by Adedeji Sesan.Oyede Leke, Udoh Friday and Ogunlola were all taken for ducks by Osita Onwunzulike, who claimed four wickets for 17 runs in four overs. Ofem was bowled on 29 with team score on 105. Seye Olympio added a decent 14 to help get 116 runs in 20 overs while Sesan took two wickets for 22 runs in four overs.116 looked an beatable total in 20 overs. Odeku Seun made 27 runs off 39 balls and was caught by Jide off Awolowo Lekan, Adegbola Kunle 18 off 20 balls, Harvey Obed 21 off 15 were the only double figures for GCI. Ogunlola Joshua and Seye Olympio both bowled three overs and went for 11 and 16 respectively, with Olympio claiming the wicket off Shittu Abiodun.Ofem claimed wickets off Kunle Adegbola, Chimezie and Osita Onwunzulike, bowling all three key batsmen, and his bowling of three wickets for 17 runs in four overs earned him man of the match award. Oyede Leke also claimed wickets of key man, Obed Harvey, and Atoloye Tayo to seal the win for BRF Cricket Club. BRF won by 13 runs to confirm its superiority in T20 cricket.Ofem was adjudged the man of the final match and bowler of the series, fielder of the series award went to Benjamin Anyia of Foundation Cricket Club, wicket keeper of the series went to Shittu Abiodun of GCI while batsman of the series went to Jamin Parav of Indian Pakistani Cricket Club.
