THE National Sports Commission (NSC) has praised Supersport Nigeria for its Let's Play initiative, which it says has contributed to the growth of sports in the rural areas.According to NSC Director -General, Dr. Patrick Ekeji, the initiative has provided a great opportunity for budding sportsmen to hone their skills, and 'the National Sports Commission endorses the SuperSport Let's Play initiative and looks forward to a great and enduring partnership.'Through this endorsement, the National Sports Commission is confident that the Let's Play initiative will encourage play, activity and sports in schools and communities as well as contribute to the promotion of a positive path to the wellbeing of all youth.'SuperSport, the sport content provider on the African continent and the NSC recently hosted the Let's Play football coaching skills clinic at the NSC Sports Centre in Aboh Mbaise, Imo State. Attended by over 500 enthusiastic children from the local community, the clinic was organised as part of activities to encourage play among youths and stimulate both their physical and mental development.As part of efforts to leave a lasting impression on the young participants, each learner at the clinic received a Let's Play T-shirt and Let's Play football, plus a rare opportunity to meet one of the game's icons in Super Eagles' former player and ex-international, Victor Ikpeba.The SuperSport Manager, CSI and Enterprises, Vaughn Bishop, said: 'I am delighted by the surge in interest in Let's Play by all Nigerians. The buy-in and support of the different associations has been tremendous and I'm greatly encouraged.'While appreciating the NSC support, General Manager of SuperSport Nigeria, Felix Awogu, said: 'If Let's Play can help more kids get off the streets and be active, we will have done our job.
