Minister commends youths over Jonathans victory

THE Minister of Youth Development, Senator Akinlabi Olasun-kanmi, has commended Nigerian youths for voting massively for President Goodluck Jonathan, describing their turnout and peaceful conduct as critical to Jonathans victory last Saturday.The minister, in a statement signed by his Special Assistant, Mr Olawale Rasheed, said I must commend Nigerian youths for standing by the president throughout the electoral process and the final phase last Saturday.Your turnout gave us victory, your responsible conduct made the election peaceful and a new standard for African democracy.Senator Olasunkanmi said on behalf of the president-elect, I thank you for making a new Nigeria possible and I pledge that your dream of a new Nigeria, under President Jonathan, will not be dashed.Nigerian youths are at the centre stage of the presidents priority and this victory is dedicated to our partners of today and leaders of tommorow.While commending the youth for the support they gave to the president, he also lauded them for eschewing pre-election violence.He, therefore, appealed for restraint and calm among some restive youths in the aftermath of the presidential poll, adding that we all must unite and support the outcome of the election.
