Ikotun residents decry attitude of motorists

A call has gone to the Lagos State government to draft more road management personnel to Ikotun Area in Alimosho Local Government Area of the state. Making the call was the Chairman of Adedayo Landlords Association , Ikotun, Dr Segun Moses, while speaking on the traffic situation in the area.Dr Moses explained, that residents of the area were passing through a very difficult time due to incessant traffic snarl. He blamed the situation on population explosion being witnessed in the area, stating that more people were trooping to the area, thus, compounding traffic situationTo solve the problem, Dr Moses suggested that the state government should draft more officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority(LASTMA) to the area, especially during peak period to control the traffic.He blamed the problem of traffic congestion in the area on indiscipline and lack of respect for traffic rules and regulations.'Our major problem is indiscipline among motorists, especially commercial drivers who are in the habit of picking passengers on the highways. 'With the presence of more traffic managers in the area, sanity will be restored. Before now, we thought the problem was bad road, but now, the roads in Ikotun area are in good condition, the problem is lack of discipline among the motorists,' he said.
