Dealers in mobile phones and other telecom-munication gadgets under the aegis of Mobile Phones Engineers and dealers in Abeokuta, have appealed to the Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, to provide them an alternative venue for their businesses. The state government had on Monday, pulled down shops at Ibara Roundabout, the commercial nerve centre of the town, to pave way for the construction of overhead bridge to complement the 2.4km Ibara- Totoro- Sokori road. The shop owners appealed to the state government to relocate them to a better location for the continuation of their businesses. The protesters who carried placards with inscriptions such as 'ACN is working, Amosun is working, 'Demolition will render over 1,000 youths jobless,' 'Please come to our aid, our families rely on us,' 'Mr. Governor help us oooo.'The chairman of the association , Mr Shaba Taiwo, said they expected the state government to have provided them with an alternative place for their business, hence their decision to embark on the peaceful protest.'We are appealing to the government. We appreciate what he is doing but we are begging him to consider the over 1,000 of us who are bread winners for our families by keeping to his promise of giving us another space.'Though, we were notified about the demolition, we want the governor to keep his promise. 'He had promised to relocate us and that is what we are waiting for,' he pleaded.
