FAIR play award winner, Ahmed Musa, said he would miss his teammates as he left for Holland yesterday to rejoin his team, VV Venlo, after inspiring Nigeria to a 2-1 victory over the Black Starlets of Ghana.The dashing winger, who is also a full international, confirmed that he would not be available for the games against Cameroun and Gambia, and would only return to South Africa if the Flying Eagles qualify for the semi-final. Ahmed, who was presented with his award after the game against Ghana, said that VV Venlo of Holland needed his service as it continues the battle to beat the drop.I must admit that I will miss the team after being part of the team that defeated Ghana in our opening game. It is painful, though, but I have no choice right now because my team also needs me to help them fight relegation, he said.I am very happy that we had a good start in the tournament by defeating Ghana because it was not an easy game. They also gave their best but in the end we ran away with victory.Musa disclosed that the arrangement on ground was for him to return after the first game contrary to what the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) made Nigerians to believe before the competition began that he would feature in the first two matches before jetting back to Holland.I must leave for my club because I need to be with them as the season closes, he continued. We are still going to play in the relegation play-offs, which means that we still have the opportunity to beat the drop and I have to be part of the team.He expressed happiness over his award, stating that he would also be available in the next round to help the Flying Eagles: It is good that we started the competition on a winning note because it would help our confidence. The game against Ghana was a very tough one but I am happy we won.According to him, it was difficult to even get him to play against Ghana but he was ready to be part of the team. He spoke further: Shuttling between Johannesburg and Holland is the price one has to pay for being a professional footballer. I hope at the end of the day, my efforts will pay off and I would be able to help Nigeria and Venlo achieve something in both competitions.
