EPL Table: 2015 Standings After Saturday's Week 12 Results and Top Scorers

Published by Bleacher Report on Sun, 08 Nov 2015

Jamie Vardy continued his incredible scoring run by netting for the ninth consecutive game as Leicester City beat Watford 2-1 at the King Power Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday.Romelu Lukaku's goal saw him pull level with the Foxes' Riyad Mahrez and the Hornets' Odion Ighalo on seven for the season, but it wasn't enough to clinch three points against West Ham United thanks to Manuel Lanzini's goal after half an hour.Chelsea's struggles continued unabated, as they sank to a 1-0 defeat away at Stoke City.Elsewhere, Manchester United put in another uninspiring performance but came away 2-0 winners over West Bromwich Albion at Old Trafford, while there were also wins for Southampton, Norwich City and Newcastle United.Read on for a closer look at the race for the Premier League's Golden Boot. But first, here are all the results from Saturday and the updated standings in the league and the top scorers' charts:Jamie Vardy, 12 goalsVardy will continue to hit the headlines after bagging yet another for the Foxeshis 12th in the league this season. The England international faced one of his biggest tests of the season against the organised Watford, who had conceded just eight goals prior to their trip to the King Power.Their solid defence kept Leicester and Vardy at bay in the first half, but after N'Golo Kante took the lead for the hosts, it was the striker's turn to shine once again. The 28-year-old raced through on goal and was subsequently brought down by Heurelho Gomes, and Vardy made no mistake from the penalty spot as he hunts down Ruud van Nistelrooy's record of scoring in 10 consecutive games.Squawka Football highlighted his stunning form:Football writer Liam Canning even posited Vardy could be a useful acquisition for Manchester United:The Red Devils could certainly use the forward right now given their struggles up front. Vardy's incredible pace and relentless work rate make him nightmare for defences to cope with, not to mention his ruthless finishing, which allows him to fully capitalise on his best attributes.Vardy will look to equal Van Nistelrooy's record in his next outing when he takes on Newcastle United. The Magpies have kept two consecutive clean sheets but still look shaky at the back, so expect him to make history with a 10th goal.If he does that, he'll be aiming to break the record against the most fitting team of allVan Nistelrooy's old club, United.Romelu Lukaku, 7 goalsA mixed year for Lukaku last season saw him rack up 20 goals in all competitions but just 10 from 36 appearances in the Premier League. The Belgian is well on his way to surpassing that total after netting his seventh league goal of the campaign at Upton Park, providing a cool finish from Gerard Deulofeu's exquisite ball forward.Match of the Day host Gary Lineker noted the striker's magnificent run of form against the Hammers, while WhoScored.com's Ben McAleer revealed the promising partnership between Deulofeu and Lukaku:Per BBC Sport's Chris Bevan, the 22-year-old said:"That is my game, going in behind and trying to be clinical in a one-on-one. It was a great ball from Gerard and the finish was good. I am happy but I play to win games and I am disappointed not to win."The powerful front man is steadily justifying his huge price tag28 million according to Bevanand his strength, height and immense physical presence give Everton a potent weapon up front. With the porous Aston Villa and Bournemouth approaching for the Toffees, his form could well be set to continue.
