Top Female Artists On Parade As Two Exhibitions Open Tomorrow

THE TOUR SHOP, an art promotion and tourism marketing company, has concluded plans to host the 5th edition of the all female art exhibition. The theme for this year's event is 'Colours and Creativity'. The event is scheduled to open on tomorrow, Saturday, May 5, 2012 by 3pm at the National Museum, Onikan ' Lagos and runs till Wednesday 16th May, 2012.The event will focus on celebrating the contributions of female artists to cultural development in West Africa. It will also showcase and bring to the fore the ingenuity of women in the creative arts hitherto believed to be the exclusive of men. The international art exhibition will feature paintings, sculptures, textile works, leather works, photography across two West African countries - Nigeria and Ghana.Artists that will be on parade during the 11-day event are Chidinma Ochu, Chinonye Gloria Ejimofor, Clara Aden, Fatric Bewong (GHANA), Folashade Ogunlade, Joyce Bubure Dowokpor (GHANA), Kunmi Otitoju, Millicent Okocha, Nyormuwofia Agorsor (GHANA), Olawunmi Banjo, Taiye Idahor, Tyna Adebowale, Victoria Onyeoma Mbanefo, Victoria Udondian and special guest artist ' Juliet Ezenwa Maja-Pearce.As part of activities lined-up for the event is a round table discussion scheduled for Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at the Exhibition Hall, National Museum where Juliet Ezenwa Maja- Pearce (an accomplished female artist) will speak on 'The Woman and her creativity ' cooperation or conflict' Development Initiative Network 's team of expert will look at the Insurance, Art Business and Copyright law for visual artists.The exhibition is expected to attract high ranking Government officials, royal fathers, art collectors and connoisseurs, the academic community and the general public.ALSO at Nike Art Gallery welcomes the general public to the opening of Kathleen Stafford's 'Glimpses of Light and Colour (Hand pulled colllagraph prints and watercolours) at 2 Elegushi Road, Lekki, Lagos. The exhibition runs till Thursday, May 10, 2012. The exhibition opens 4pm.
