Maigari reaches accord with Nigerian players

CHIARMAN Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Aminu Maigari has reached accord with some Nigeria-born youngsters plying their trade in London on how best they could fix into various national age-grade teams.Maigari who arrived London last Thursday met with the organisers of last year's Under-20 camp held for Nigeria-born players in London, Mike Jatto and Bolaji Oyegunle.The NFF boss said the trip gave him an opportunity to speak with some of the British born players that are really interested in playing for Nigeria in the age-grade national teams, and gave assurance to support them to succeed.Among players he met were Femi Orenuga of Everton FC and Keith Orenuga of Arsenal FC.Maigari stressed that during his regime as the NFF boss, he aims to build a virile national team.'During my regime, we wants to build a solid national teams; U-13, 17, 20, 23 and Super Eagles so that all of them will qualify for major tournaments and bring glory back to Nigeria,'' Maigari stressed.The President was also at the Wembley stadium to give full support to Nigerian international, Mikel Obi who won the English FA Cup with Chelsea against Liverpool on Saturday.In same vein, Maigari has congratulated the Falconets on their 4-0 victory over Congo DR at the MKO Stadium, Abeokuta in the first leg of the FIFA Under-20 World Cup slated for Japan.He noted that the victory is a massive step towards the World Championship, but expected more goals would have been scored to make the secong leg a formality.'I congratulated the Falconets for making the country proud. I expected that they would have scored as many goals as possible to make the return leg a mere formality,' the NFF boss noted.ort during the FA's hard times. Maigari is expected back in Nigeria today.He however thanked the Sports Minister and the Senate for their support.
