GLOBAL Internet advertising company, LinkedIn.com has concluded plans to enter the Nigerian market with advertising opportunities exclusively sold by Wild Fusion. The company, which will be based in Lagos, is targeting a larger share of the Nigeria market, which currently stands at 43 million people online. Managing Director of Wild Fusion, Abasiama Idaresit, said the company will rely on the strength of the large number of its Nigerian customer to break into the market. LinkedIn currently has 156,763 Nigerian professionals as of December 2010 and of this number 41,728 are business decision makers and senior executives, including 7,110 executive directors 1,400 company vice presidents, and 1,350 corporate executives, he revealed. This, he said, will give advertisers of Business to Business (B2B) products access to key decision makers in Nigerian business community. This demographic are widely traveled, informed and technology savvy, he added. As Africas largest Internet population by country with well over 43 million people online, LinkedIn said it is poised at exploring the market, since Nigeria remains very attractive to global Internet companies. LinkedIn is the worlds largest business oriented social networking site. Founded in 2002, it is mainly used for professional and social networking. As of November 2010, LinkedIn has more than 80 million registered users, spanning more than 200 countries and territories across the world. As to why corporate brands in Nigeria will find this medium attractive to market their products and services, Idaresit said apart from from the large customer base of Nigerian customers, there are other benefits ready for offer by the company, which include: its recruitment advertisement for human resource departments, which will enable recruitment agencies advertise vacancies directly to their target audience. According to him, this new additions from LinkedIn were designed to make it easier for its members to collaborate not just with co-workers but people outside of their jobs and for advertisers to reach key decision makers in Nigerian companies. In a related development, a report credited to website ranker, Alexa, which claimed to have tracked both Yahoo and Facebook for over a three-month period said that Facebook has replaced Yahoo as the most visited website by Nigerians.According to Operations Manager at Wild Fusion, Mr. Ken Okolo, millions of Nigerians can be reached on Facebook, the world largest social network site with well over 500 million users globally. Facebook is said to be capable of offering amazing advertising opportunities including video, poll, like and event engagement, which are premium and gives higher returns/visibility mileage than the self served advertisement. Facebook, Yahoo, Google and BBC are the top visited mobile sites by Nigerians browsing from their mobile phones.
