NSC, Zone 1, begin maiden U-16 special sports tourney

ALL is now set for the maiden edition of U-16 Special Sports in table tennis and powerlifting put together by the National Sports Commission (NSC) zone 1.The three-day tournament billed for the Akure Township stadium and scheduled to kick off 9:am daily is expected to begin today with a seminar where two resource persons would be teaching the coaches on the classification of special athletes and coaching techniques on how to handle special athletes.Coach Are Feyisetan will be talking on: Tecchniques On How To Handle Special Athletes, while Coach Taiwo Kasumu would be sharing his wealth of experience with the coaches on The Classification of Special Athletes. This according to the Zonal Coordinator, Mr Peter Nelson, would afford the coaches more background knowledge on how to prepare their athletes for the competition.He further stated that, "The competition is limited to the three states within the zone,i.e Ondo, Osun and Ekiti states, And as I am speaking with you now, all of them have signified their intention to partcipate".Nelson, however hinted that, Crystals trophies would be presented to overall winners, while certificates would also be given to individual winners.
