Oyo gov: Ibadan elders endorse Ajimobi Im not intimidated -LadojaIt didnt come as a surprise -Alao-Akala

Ibadan Elders Forum, on Wednesday endorsed the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) gubernatorial candidate in Oyo State for the April 26, 2011 governorship election, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, as its official candidate for the poll, urging all sons and daughters of Ibadan to vote for him.Addressing journalists in Ibadan, the chairman of Ibadan Elders Forum, Ambassador Olusola Saanu, accompanied by other prominent Ibadan indigenes, including the Otun Olubadan, High Chief Omowale Kuye, an industrialist, Chief Kola Daisi, former chairman of the Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), Chief Bode Amoo and former Chief Judge of Oyo State, Justice Nurudeen Adekola, said theirchoice was in the interest and development of the town and the people, adding that the forum had the constitutional right to support a credible candidate capable of delivering dividends of democracy.Meanwhile, the gubernatorial candidate of the Accord Party in Oyo State, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, has said he is not intimated by the purported endorsement of Senator Ajimobi, the ACN gubernatorial candidate by Ibadan Elders Forum, saying their endorsement is undemocratic.Reacting through his campaign organisation in a statement signed by the director-general, Honourable Adeolu Adeleke, the Accord Party standard-bearer said he would not step down for any candidate, but will run the race as desired by the vast majority of the people of the state.Furthermore, Oyo State governor, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala, said the decision of the Ibadan Elders Forum to dabble in partisan politics did not come as a surprise.In a release signed by Prince Dotun Oyelade, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Communications,the governor said, about this time four years ago, the socio-cultural group made a similar pronouncement, declaring support for the same Senator Ajimobi but the plan failed.
