IGP assures of maximum security in Adamawa

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) has assured Nigerians of the readiness of the police to quash any form of uprising during and after the 2011 elections.The IGP was speaking through the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations, Audu Abubakar, who was in Yola, Adamawa State, on an assessment tourof the level of damageand destruction during last Sundays crisis which broke outas a result of the outcome of the presidential election.Addressing the press at the state police command headquarters, Abubakar said he had assessed the situation in Kaduna, Kano and Gombe states and would report back to police authorities on what should be done in terms of security.I came in yesterday and I have gone round and my assessment is that we are lucky here in Yola because the extent of damage is not too serious compared to what happened in Mubi and Michika.He described the whole event as shameful noting that it should not have happened in the first place because the election had been adjudged by Nigerians and the international community as free, fair and transparent.The police boss said all the perpetrators of the dastardly act would be brought to book because their actions were purely criminal.
