THE University of Roehampton, London is offering guaranteed scholarship opportunities to the tune of between 1,500 to 2,500 to Nigerians and other international students wishing to study at the institution.The Institution's Recruitment and Marketing Director, Mr Gary Davies, who made the disclosure at a briefing in Lagos last Monday, also noted that the institution has been ranked first in areas such as flexibility, language support, students union, host culture, financial support and accommodation among London universities.The institution also last Monday formally opened its office in the country, assuring Nigerian students, who wish to pursue university education in the United kingdom (UK) of a wide range of academic and business opportunities.The aim setting up an office in Nigeria, according to representatives from the university, who spoke at the briefing, is to create an avenue for Nigerian students who wish to study at the university to interact with its highly trained staff.Some of the courses being offered by the institution include Banking and Finance, Business Management, Education and Teaching, International Management, International Business, BM Accounting and Ministerial Theology. Others are Counseling Psychology, Sports Psychology, Journalism, Biomedical Sciences, Business Info technology, HRM, Supply Chain Management and the Master in Business Administration (MBA) programme.According to Davies, the University of Roehampton is home to about 130 different nationalities on campus. ' Out of the 150 international students, about 70 are from Nigeria. This constitutes a very interesting and important element of learning from different perspective and different culture. We take special interest in introducing our students specially into the university system and where they can get help. We get them acquainted with facilities, unions and clubs. Another unique aspect is that we are on campus and this helps a lot in terms of integration'.The University of Roehampton also has courses across nine academicDepartments such as Dance, Drama Theatre and Performance,Education, English and Creative Writing, Humanities, LifeSciences, Media, Culture and Language, Psychology and SocialSciences including a Business School.Theinstitution's International Marketing Manager, Ms. Kim Rogers pointed out that the university has a rich educational history stretching back more than 170 years. Assuring parents of safety and security of their wards, she also announced that the university offers competitive fees, stressing that students are allowed to work part time while studying.'The greatest investment one can make is investment in personal self. The quality of education we offer will not only allow our students to better themselves but also contribute their quota in the development of their respective countries. Our goal is for our students to come back home and contribute to the development of their country's economy and improvement of infrastructure in Nigeria,' she added.
