We Will Survive In Congo, Heartland Assures Fans

Published by Guardian on Sat, 12 May 2012

HEARTLAND Football Club of Owerri believes it has the quality to defeat AC Leopard of Congo in their CAF Confederation Cup second leg tie tomorrow, but the team wants Nigerians to pray for it as it tries to make the last qualifying round for the group stage of the competition.Heartland beat AC leopards 3-2 in the first leg of the tie in Owerri a fortnight ago and knows that a 1-0 loss will knock it out of the competition. The team arrived in Lagos yesterday ahead of its departure for the Republic of Congo this morning for the game scheduled to hold in the city of Dolisie.Speaking on arrival in Lagos yesterday, General Manager, Fan Ndubuoke, said Nigerians will hear a good story on the match if they continued to pray for Heartland FC.'We have done a lot of homework since after the first leg and I believe the players will live up to expectation,' said Ndubuoke. 'We don't need anybody to tell us that we have a tough assignment, but I am sure we are going to Congo with a dependable team and also with the same God who wills us victory. Our God is alive and I want Nigerians to continue praying for us,' he added.Goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi also believes Heartland would return triumphant from Congo. 'We are 95 per cent ready for this match. AC Leopard are good but they are not better than us and we want to make sure that we do not make those mistakes which gave them two goals last time,' the goalkeeper said. The 'Naze Millionaires' are hoping that the logistics support from both the Nigerian Embassy in Congo and the Nigerian community in Brazzaville will eliminate any hostile atmospherebeing ringed up by the hosts.
