Two matches featuring considerable fan favorites headlined Wednesday night's NXT and, in the process, produced the broadcast's biggest winners and losers.Up first was the showdown between the brand's most celebrated tag team ever, The Ascension, and the rising team of Chad Gable and Jason Jordan. The two teams waged war, with Konnor and Viktor reminding fans on the WWE Network why they were once the most feared team in wrestling, but it was Gable and Jordan who scored the win and moved further into tag team title contention. In the night's main event, Bayley defended the NXT Women's Championship against Alexa Bliss in a match that has been weeks in the making. Bliss turned in a fantastic performance in her first opportunity to compete for the title in a high-profile situation but fell just short of acquiring the gold.Win or lose, the talent in those two marquee bouts helped make the November 18 episode of NXT another phenomenal night of television.Who landed on which side of the argument, though'Keeping scrolling to find out.Winners: The AscensionThe tag team from The Wasteland returned to Full Sail University and were greeted with a thunderous ovation from fans who clearly appreciate all that The Ascension accomplished during their time in NXT. For well over 200 days, they decimated the competition and lent credibility to the NXT Tag Team Championships. While their time on the main roster has been anything but fruitful or fulfilling, they showed great energy and enthusiasm as they stepped back into the ring they dominated for so very long. A close look even reveals a smile or two from the performers, undoubtedly honored by the response they were greeted with.Once the bell rang, The Ascension turned in their finest performance in quite some time, getting their own offense in but, at the same time, doing their duty and putting Jason Jordan and Chad Gable over as the future of NXT's tag team division. After what has had to have been a truly disappointing and frustrating 2015, The Ascension enjoyed one more memorable night in front of the most passionate fans in wrestling, and they rewarded them for their loyalty.Winners: Chad Gable and Jason JordanThe NXT Universe loves them some Gable and Jordan, something that was once again on display Wednesday night as they squared off with The Ascension in the biggest test of their young stint as a team. They were their typically energetic and fun selves, while proving that they belong in the ring with a team of The Ascension's stature. They never looked out of place. In fact, they looked like two stars that are well on their way to joining the chase for the tag team championships, perhaps as soon as TakeOver in London.Their clean victory over Konnor and Viktor was a great piece of booking that earned them credibility and the belief of fans, who were already sold on their act. There is not much more effective booking than that.Loser: Alexa BlissThis is no condemnation of Bliss' performance in Wednesday's main event for the women's championship. In her first opportunity to compete in a main event for the top prize on the Divas division, she turned in a fantastic performance. The former fitness model seems to understand facial expressions and body language in a way few others do in NXT, male or female.Wednesday, she was able to couple those two elements of her performance with very strong in-ring psychology, working the arm and hand of her opponent throughout the match, then showing frustration when she could not get the desired pinfall.Of course, that frustration proved her downfall as she ate a Bayley-to-Belly suplex that ended her hunt for gold, but it was still a stellar performance in a situation that would have intimidated a lesser performer. So if her performance was so strong, why is she the biggest loser from Wednesday's WWE Network broadcast'As quickly as she was interjected into the title hunt, she was eliminated from it, as Eva Marie made her way to the ring after the match and set up her feud with Bayley, revealing that she will challenge for the women's title next week.Despite the fantastic promo from earlier in the showthe strong facials and body language and the better-than-expected in-ring workBliss found herself tossed aside and left to watch from afar as her spot was taken before her very eyes without any time to digest what was happening. It has to be disheartening, and for that reason alone, Bliss is clearly this week's biggest loser. And that is a gigantic shame.
