Ilogbo Ota residents call for standard road

Published by Tribune on Fri, 22 Apr 2011

RESIDENTS of Borehole, Ewupe, Alasia  and other communites  on the Ilogbo road  in Sango-Ota area of Ogun State, have appealed to the state government and the authorities of Ado Odo/Ota Local Government  to repair the roads in their communities. The residents also called for a  mass and rapid  reconstruction of the dilapidated roads  which according to them will bring about massive and rapid  development of the  emerging communities along the  Ilogbo Road. Some of the residents also decried  the abandonment of the reconstruction work on the road , even when government had assured them of a speedy completion of the road.A resident, who identified herself as Adebisi Alao , described the experience of the  residents of the neighbourhood  on the road  as harrowing  and terrible while also adding that commercial motorcyclists take advantage of the bad roads to extort them .Adebisi informed Community News that  more new sites were emerging along the Ilogbo road,  and that  government had failed to take advantage of this to repair the road. She stated that the road, if properly constructed, would reduce  the burden of heavy traffic on the Sango axis of the Abeokuta Expressway   thereby opening up avenues for economic development for the people of the area .Another resident, who identified himself simply as Talabi , also called on the state and local governments in the area  to accelerate the construction of the road.Talabi stated that  the major problem of the people of the communities,  was flood, as the river along the road often overshoots its bank. He, however, advised the state government  to take over the construction of the road and  build a standard bridge  over  the river.
