ACN, vendor of falsehood 'PDP

Published by Tribune on Fri, 18 May 2012

THE Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has lambasted the rival Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) over its claims that the 2011 presidential election was rigged, saying that the opposition party has become a vendor of falsehood. The PDP is angry over the support of the ACN for the presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Major-General Muhammadu Buhari, who suggested that the 2011 general election was rigged and threatened a bloodbath should the 2015 election go the same way.In a statement signed by the national publicity secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, in Abuja, on Thursday, the PDP described as height of hypocrisy, the statement from the ACN, where it agreed with the Buhari that the 2011 general election was, indeed, rigged.PDP said the fact that ACN had waited over a year to voice a contrary opinion to its earlier position was an indication that the party was belatedly regurgitating falsehood from an already digested fact.According to the PDP, 'this is a very shameful attempt to regurgitate falsehood from a well known fact. It is over a year since the 2011 presidential election which the PDP won fair and square as attested to by local and international observers. And it is on record that neither the ACN leadership nor its presidential standard-bearer challenged the credibility of that election.'The statement recalled words of the leader of the ACN, Senator Bola Tinubu, where he conceded that PDP won the 2011 presidential election, following the inability to organise themselves before the election.
