Adebiyi blames nation's woes on SNC's opponents

THE Bishop of Lagos West, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Revd. Dr. Peter Awelewa Adebiyi has blamed those that have ignored the call to convene a Sovereign National Conference (SNC) for the nation's problems.Delivering an address yesterday in Lagos, during the first session of the fifth Synod of the Diocese, with the theme: 'Godliness with Contentment,' Adebiyi described all the people against the idea of a national conference as the real 'enemies of Nigeria.''This is so because if this call had been heeded in the years past and we had summoned enough courage to go into sincere discussions, we could have arrived at a solution by now. The many problems staring Nigeria in the face today, and these thorny national issues would have been resolved long time ago,' he said.The cleric called on those who are proposing to rewrite the Constitution to jettison the idea, saying that the country's problems did not lie in it.The Anglican bishop, who spoke on state of the nation including Boko Haram, called on President Goodluck Jonathan to listen to Nigerians and avoid the people persuading him to ignore the suggestions of others.
