Published by Guardian on Sat, 19 May 2012

SYSTEMS integrator, Resourcery Plc, has implemented the first Systimax Pre-terminated copper and fibre fabric Solution Data Centre for Airtel Nigeria. This was disclosed at the official opening of the Data Centre that represents a first of its kind across Africa and the Middle East.Leveraging on its status as the only CommScope Elite Business partner in Africa, Resourcery has successfully added value to the business operation of Airtel in Nigeria by deploying environment-friendly green initiative solution in data centre design. This clearly demonstrates that Resourcery has proven experience with CommScope implementations and is capable of offering the highest levels of design, installation and integration.Speaking on the new data centre, Oba Otudeko, chairman Airtel Nigeria, expressed his delight at the successful collaboration of both companies in achieving yet another milestone in the quest to provide Nigerians with quality telecommunications service without impacting negatively on the environment. He said: 'As you can see, this data centre comes with state-of-the-art technology and equipment. It is the biggest data centre in Airtel Africa with 20,000 sq feet of equipment space and goes live with multiple back-ups in terms of power and redundancy for delivering seamless service to millions of Airtel subscribers in Nigeria.'Otudeko added: 'Our 3.75G network, which is the widest and the best in Nigeria, among other ground breaking products and services is an eloquent testimony to our firm resolve to dictate the pace of innovation and value creation in the Nigerian telecommunications market.'Speaking for Resourcery, Mr. Tani Fafunwa, the managing director, noted that today's IT-centric world has set in motion trends that influence how enterprises of every size manage their technology and communications networks as well as their network infrastructure. While the established imperatives of 'faster, better, more-cost-effective' still hold sway in the cabling and connectivity component market, some other important decision making factors have also come into play.Fafunwa said: 'In designing and implementing high-density networks, many organisations and data-reliant businesses are seeking to make more sustainable, environmentally sound choices. This is what Resourcery has delivered to Airtel. We have implemented a system that provides Airtel with high performance and reliability for maximum network uptime over the long term. This was done without incurring high costs down the road for upgrades, system maintenance and management.'Speaking further, he noted: 'In achieving this wonderful result, we considered the ever-increasing need for higher bandwidth and flexibility to accommodate future growth by the company. We also considered the network's physical media infrastructure and its overall life cycle as a capital investment that is essential to its corporate goals.
