Admiral Dele Abiodun Impeached

COMING two weeks after his re-election into office as PMAN president, Admiral Dele Abiodun has been relieved of the position, as the National Executive Council (NEC) of the union rose from an emergency meeting held in Lagos Tuesday, February 8, 2011 and unanimously decided to impeach him. The embattled Dele Abiodun, had convened a controversial delegate conference in faraway Oshogbo, Osun State, where he was reportedly re-elected for another three-years tenure in office.    Immediately after the election, many critics and stakeholders in the music industry took up arms describing his return to the seat, as dangerous to the already battered image of the union and the music industry, in general. It would b e recalled that before his controversial election, the Edo State born juju music veteran, had at various times been enmeshed in several allegations, ranging from maladministration, fraud and conspiracy. The emergency meeting of the NEC, had in attendance and signatories of 17 States chairmen of the union such as Sule Mohammed, Zamfara State; Godion Momoh, Enugu State; Great Ade Samson, Lagos State; Apadidun Gbenga, Ekiti State; Oguesu Jones, Kaduna State; Lexy Mueka, Rivers State; Allen Otobo, Balyelsa State; Lady Obby Nwankwo, Ebonyi State; Eua David, Cross River State; AZ Uka, Adamawa State; Yeilfil Mekwunte (Funky Alh.), Niger State; Umaru Isa, Taraba State; Tony Grey, Delta State; Chief Chris Chikere, Imo State; Prince Bonny Brown Etodike, Anambra State; Emmanuel Ndah (NWC ex official member) and Christian Isibor, Plateau State. Also in attendance at the NEC emergency meeting were the first and second vice-president of PMAN Mr. Emma Ogosi and Ibezim Okilo, including the acting Secretary General of the union Barrister Ademola Odetunde. The NEC also formally declared the suspended Secretary General of the union, Idowu Blessing dismissed. Meanwhile music critics and observers continue to wonder why the NEC had to go through this tortuous journey before arriving at the decision. Reacting to the news of Abioduns impeachment, a popular stakeholder who would not want his name in print responded thus: Im surprised that the NEC had to wait till now before giving him the sack. I had expected them to take that decision at Oshogbo, and save themselves of this stress. Anyway, its late than never.
