Egor, Esan S/East win Oshiomhole Gold Cup

IT was mixed reaction for Egor Local Government at the maiden edition of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole Re-election U-19 Boys and Girls Gold Cup as the female team lost while the male team won the trophy.The final of the competition, organised by the Edo State Youth Club Coaches Association (ESYCCA) and sponsored by Egor Local Government held at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium, Benin-City was watched by the State's Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Iziegbe Anita Evbuomwan represented by the Ministry Director of Sports, Betty Omoruyi, Chairman of Egor LG, Hon George Aimienoho and other dignitaries.In the boys event, Amegor FC of Egor LG walloped its counterpart Lucky Stars FC of Oredo Local Government by five goals to nil in the final game to lift the trophy.The first goal was scored in the fifth minute through Irogue Priestly while Wasiu Shittu (12th minute), Freedom Omofoman (16th minute), and Aiteori Godday (33rdminute) wrapped the game in the first half.Odemwinge Nicholas increased the tally in the 52nd minutes while all attempts by the Oredo boys to reduce the tally proved abortive.Meanwhile, in the ladies event, Esan South East Dames coached by Jimmy Aiwumuagbonrie proved too difficult for the Egor LG girls as they defeated them by three goals to nothing to win the female category.
