Shehata dumps Zamalek

EGYPTIAN giants, Zamalek has accepted the resignation of coach Hassan Shehata following a rift between him and midfielder Shikabala.The 26-year-old player is reported to have been unhappy after he was substituted by the coach in the team's last game against Maghreb Fes.According to reports, Shehata, who won the Africa Cup of Nations three times in a row ' 2006, 2008 and 2010 ' mooted for the dismissal of the Egyptian international, who is tied with Zamalek until the summer of 2014.The former Egypt coach was also reluctant to keep striker Mido with the team for next season.However, the board of the School of Art refused to accept his demands, hence his resignation.The 62-year-old, who himself is a Zamalek legend, recently guided the Giza-based team to the Caf Champions League group stage for the first time since 2008. He has been at the helm of affairs since July 2011 after leaving the Pharaohs.
