Police warn Oyo NURTW against public disorder

THE Oyo State police command has threatened that it would be all out against the state chapter of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) should it go ahead with its planned disturbance of public peace today.The command said it heard it on good authority that the outlawed drivers' union had concluded arrangement to disrupt the peace of the state in some designated areas in the state capital, including Iwo Road, Sango, Olomi, Ojoo, Agodi-Gate, Molete, Challenge and New-Garage, among others.In a release issued on behalf of the command by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Olabisi Okuwobi and made available to newsmen in Ibadan, on Sunday, the command asked the NURTW members not to dare it, threatening not to spare anything to ensure that the peace and tranquility reigning in the state was not disrupted.According to the release, 'the atention of the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State command, Tambari Yabo Mohammed, has been drawn to a planned public disturbance by some members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Ibadan on May 21, 2012.'The Oyo State police command wishes to use this medium to sternly warn these prospective troublemakers to rescind on its decision to take Oyo State to a Hobbesian state of nature, where life was wicked, short and brutish and everyman was against his neighbour.
