PDP names 47-man advisory committee 'Ekwueme, Anenih, Akinjide, George, Gemade, Lar make list

Published by Tribune on Mon, 21 May 2012

DETERMINED to carry out reformation of the Peo-ples Democratic Party (PDP), its national chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, has named a 47-man advisory board to work with him in piloting the affairs of the party. The board would be chaired by an elder stateman and former vice-president, Dr Alex Ekwueme.Nigerian Tribune learnt that the move had already received the approval of President Goodluck Jonathan, while members were being notified through a letter signed by Alhaji Ahmad Gusua, the political adviser to the national chairman. It was gathered that while members of the board slated for inuaguration in Abuja on May 30 had been accepting the offer, a former national chairman of the party, Dr Ahmadu Ali, has reportedly declined his nomination, due to what a source described as 'personal reason.'The members of the proposed board, as obtained exclusively by the Nigerian Tribune at the weekend, included Chiefs Joseph Wayas, Tony Anenih, Richard Akinjide, Solomon Lar, Bode George, Don Etiebet, Shuaib Oyedokun, Graham Douglas and Olusegun Agagu.Others were Senators Barnabas Gemade, Ibra-him Mantu, Ibrahim Ida, Jonathan Zwingina, Ike Nwachukwu, Victor Oyo-for, Alhaji Ibrahim Cooma-ssie, Alhaji Muhammadu Gambo, Dr Okwesilieze Nwodo, Alhaji Muhamma-du Goni and Mr James Bawa Magaji. Also included were Ambassador Yerima Abdulahi, Alhaji Bello Kirfi, Dr Emeka Enejere, Alhaji Magaji Danbatta, Alhaji Yaro Makama, King Tur-ner, Alhaji Yekini Adeojo, Chief (Mrs) Bolajoko Do-herty, Chief Joseph Okon-kwo and Dr Aisha Nana Abdulkadir.Though the national publicity secretary of the party, Chief Olisa Metuh, could not be immediately reached for comment, a chieftain of the party, however, told the Nigerian Tribune in confidence that the board was timely.
