I am not scared of Enyeama, Ejide, Agbin boasts

Published by Guardian on Mon, 21 May 2012

SUPER Eagles' goalkeeper Chigozie Agbim has warned foreign-based Vincent Enyeama and Austin Ejide to ensure they are in top form before joining the national team's camp, which opens on May 27, as he is ready to fight for the No.1 jersey.Nigeria will begin the final phase of the preparation for next month's World Cup and Africa Nations Cup qualifiers against Namibia, Malawi and Rwanda after Wednesday's international friendly against Peru in Lima. Agbim told The Guardian at the unveiling of the Super Eagles' foreign-based players in Abuja that he was prepared for a tough battle against Enyeama and Ejide. The home-based Eagles' captain said he has taken steps to improve his flexes and general performance, bearing in mind that he was going to face a strong battle against the two international keepers. The Warri Wolves' goalkeeper said: 'I know that they will be coming in with their experience, so I have already settled for a battle and I know(that) based on the forms, it will not an easy ride for any of us. I also hope that they will be in their top forms because even though I am not playing in Europe, I believe I have been training and performing better than any of them in recent times.'I cannot be intimidated or be put under pressure because of where they are coming from. I would rather say that I am in a better position than any of them because I will continue to tap from their experiences to improve on my performance in both camp and matches.'Meanwhile, the 11 foreign-based players listed by coach Stephen Keshi for the qualifiers are expected to report to camp in Calabar on May 27. Keshi had earlier said he would pick the remaining 18 players from the bulk of the home-based team, which is expected to confront Peru on Wednesday in an international friendly in Lima.
