With just four weeks to go until the opening of the January transfer window across Europe, rumour season has begun. Don't expect too much business from Borussia Dortmund, because their squad is deep and strong and any new signing would have problems breaking through. If anything, the Black and Yellows might choose to sell a player or two.Since Thomas Tuchel's side have so far escaped the injury bugin stark contrast to the later stages of the Jurgen Klopp eraone struggles to find areas where Dortmund should look to bring in reinforcements. Therefore, it's not surprising to see there aren't any rumours about the Black and Yellows possibly signing players in the winter window. There is, however, a flurry of rumours surrounding their best players and biggest names, sincethe international media generally considers BVB a selling club. The English press is especially relentless in that regard, as not a day goes by without a new article linking the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Mats Hummels or Marco Reus to one of the Premier League's biggest clubs. With that in mind, let's take a look at three recentrumours and give our verdict on which of them Dortmund fans should take seriously.Jonas HofmannTwenty-three-year-old midfielder Jonas Hofmann has been linked with a number of clubs from the Bundesliga, most heavily with 1899 Hoffenheim. Hofmann is a product of Hoffenheim's academy, having joined the Baden-Wuerttemberg side as an 11-year-old. The former Germany under-21 international left Hoffenheim for Dortmund in 2011, when he was brought into the club to play for the under-23 outfit.Hoffenheim'schief financial backer, Dietmar Hopp, called Hofmann a personal favourite in an interview with German tabloid Bildthree weeks ago, whileGerman magazineKicker reported this week that Hoffenheim's interest in the player remains lively.Bild(article in German) mentioned Hannover, Monchengladbach and 2. Bundesliga side Leipzig as other suitors this week. With Hofmann having only played in 12 of Dortmund's 25 games across all competitions, a transfer seems very much possible. The 23-year-old is surplus to Tuchel's requirements, which is most obvious in the Bundesliga, where he spent just 203 of a possible 1260 minutes on the pitch, according to Transfermarkt. Hofmann's last appearance in the league came in late September.Manchester United loanee Adnan Januzaj would likely pick up the slack if Hofmann indeed leaves the club, as the two have been on the pitch at the same time in only one game all season: They both started in Dortmund's 1-1 in the UEFA Europa League at PAOK Salonika.Overall, Hofmann just doesn't seem talented enough to be a regular contributor for a club as ambitious as Dortmund. He'd be better off at Hoffenheim or Hannover, with both clubs looking for reinforcements in their fight against relegation.Verdict: TrueNeven SuboticNeven Subotic is the name most often linked to follow former BVB head coach Klopp to Liverpool FC. John Ashdown of the Guardianreported as much on the day the German manager put pen to paper at the Merseyside club: "Jurgen KloppsLiverpoolrevolution will begin with the signing of the Dortmund defenderNeven Suboticin the January transfer window."This week, Joe Rimmer of the Liverpool Echo reported Subotic is "said now to be available for 15 million. He's made just one appearance this season under Thomas Tuchel, and could be tempted to move to Anfield under his old boss."Suboticseems to have fallen out of favour under Tuchel, as he'sat bestDortmund's No. 4 centre-back at the moment. Mats Hummels and Sokratis Papastathopoulos have Tuchel's confidence, despite noticeable hiccups in recent weeks, while converted defensive midfielder Sven Bender is the first back-up.It's questionable, however, if Liverpool would be interested in signing him. As Bleacher Report's Tom Sunderland wrote, "Klopphas numerous options at his disposal in central defence," but "Liverpool may seek a more elite class of defender to beef up their resources." Subotic hardly represents that elite class at the moment.Still, Subotic is likely to leave the clubperhaps as early as Januaryand the Premier League seems like a logical destination for the charismatic defender. Just don't be surprised ifLFCisn't that destination.Verdict: True with certain qualificationsPierre-Emerick AubameyangWe saved the biggest name for last. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's incredible season, which we highlighted after his brace against Stuttgart this past weekend, sees him linked with just about every big club in European football right now.Listing all the clubs that international media have named as potential suitors would blow up this space. Adrian Kajumba of the Mirrorreported this week that Manchester United have thrown their hat in the ring, while "Barcelona are also in the hunt for Aubameyang and have run the rule over him this season. He is also on the radars ofArsenalandChelsea."We can make this very short: Aubameyang signed a new contract until 2020 in July, is perhaps Dortmund's most important player and doesn't have a release clause. Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke laughed at all the speculation surrounding the Bundesliga's leading goalscorer in a half-time interview with German broadcaster Sky on Sunday.Aubameyang isn't going anywhere.Verdict: FalseLarsPollmannis a featured columnist writing onBorussiaDortmund. He also writes forYellowwallpod.com.
