PDP, DPP Trade Words Over Delta Guber Polls

Published by Guardian on Sat, 23 Apr 2011

AHEAD of Tuesdays governorship and state Assembly elections nationwide, Secretary to Delta State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and former Commissioner of sports, Solomon Ogba, believes that the race will be a one-way traffic for Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan based on what he termed as his wide acceptability by the people. But the Democratic Peoples Party (DPP) governorship candidate, Great Ogboru, sees himself as the man to beat in the race, saying that it is the end of the road for the PDP.Ogba, who narrowly lost the Delta South senatorial seat to James Manager during the PDP primaries, told The Guardian yesterday that the party has done its home work and would win come Tuesday.I can tell you that the PDP is on ground and we will win on Tuesday no matter the tricks implored by other parties. I dont see any candidate posing a threat to Uduaghan. I dont want to go into details, but all I can tell you at this point is that we will win. I have heard people saying that the PDP is shaking in Delta State. Shaking for what You see, at this level of politics, people come up with all sorts of permutations but like I said, we are on ground, he said.Countering, Ogboru said yesterday that his party wouldnt fold its arms and allow the PDP to blindfold the people this time around. Speaking through one of his aides, Nath Omama, Ogboru said: By now, every PDP member in Delta State should know that the game is over as far as the governorship is concerned. First, we are working round the clock to make sure that the election is conducted free and fair round the state. We want to make sure that there is no room for rigging and once that is done, the wing of PDP is totally clip, he said.
