WWE SmackDown Results: Biggest Winners, Losers and Moments from December 3

Published by Bleacher Report on Fri, 04 Dec 2015

Three days after its official formation on Raw, The League of Nations set out to leave its mark on Roman Reigns and his closest friends and family on SmackDown. The heels needed desperately to establish themselves as credible opposition to Reigns and the rest of the company's premier babyfaces if they were to be taken seriously going forward.Instead they were greeted with apathy by the audience, their only heat the result of Sheamus' stupid mohawk and braided beard, and were made to look like fools via a ridiculous countdown loss in a 4-on-1 Handicap match against Roman Reigns.Fans already associated King Barrett, Rusev and Alberto Del Rio with mediocrity thanks to past booking, and Sheamus had been greeted with lukewarm responses by those refusing to buy into him as a legitimate heavyweight champion of the world.Whoever booked them Thursday night either valued them as main event stars much more than the audience did or simply didn't care.Whatever the case may be, The League of Nations were the night's biggest losers for reasons that greatly exceed their lame name.Which Superstars and Divas fared better than the world champion and his merry bunch of lackeys' And who found themselves joining the glorified J.O.B. Squad in the loser's end of the spectrum'Let's take a look.Winners: The Wyatt FamilyWhen it was revealed that D-Von Dudley, not Bubba Ray, as previously advertised during Raw, would battle Bray Wyatt, fans should have expected that The Reaper of Souls would score the victory. What was not so obvious was how decisively and quickly he would do so. It was essentially a glorified squash, with Wyatt going over with Sister Abigail. Then, to really hammer home how much of an advantage the heels have over their elder rivals, they beat down The Dudley Boyz and fellow ECW alumnus Tommy Dreamer before putting The Innovator of Violence through a table and posing over the fallen bodies of the ECW Originals. It was a dominant display by The Wyatt Family, one that should have ended the feud and really established the faction as a threat to every major babyface on the roster.Instead, it is but a single chapter in an ongoing story that will wrap up on December 13 at Tables, Ladders & Chairs.Hopefully, the outcome of whatever match is ultimately announced for the pay-per-view will be as favorable to Bray Wyatt, Erick Rowan, Luke Harper and Braun Strowman as Thursday's angle was.Losers: Becky Lynch and CharlotteIt is difficult to label Becky Lynch a loser, especially on a night when she was finally treated like the star she has the potential to be.She cut a very solid promo prior to her match with Brie Bella, enjoyed a very cool entrance and worked hard in the little bit of time that she and the former Divas champion were granted.Unfortunately, the fans have not been given quite enough reason to care about her yet, nor do they care about her friend-turned-rival Charlotte, despite the second-generation star's status as champion of all things Diva. The post-match argument between the two failed to inspire much in the way of a reaction, rendering the entire segment a disappointing failure.WWE Creative will hopefully get things rolling for Lynch, who is a talented worker and deserves so much better than what she has been presented with thus far.As for Charlotte, her heel turn needs to come fast, because this writer was in the crowd for this week's tapings, and even the kids were not buying into her as a babyface, greeting her initial backstage appearance with a mixture of apathy and boos and maintaining that feeling of "meh" as she headed to the squared circle.Winners: The New DayThe great New Day experiment continued Thursday, with Kofi Kingston, Big E and Xavier Woods being their awesome, obnoxious selves and infuriating the crowd.Best of all, they won cleanly, seizing an opportunity by exploiting the previously injured knee of Jimmy Uso and scoring the win off a modified Shining Wizard from Woods. The New Day's booking is exactly what it should be. The trio gets great satisfaction in annoying fans to the point that their hatred increases. Then, it turns in a strong in-ring performance and wins clean while demonstrating solid psychology.Do the heels cheat' Of course, but hardly at the level or frequency that most heels do. Instead, they talk a big game and, more often than not, back it up.And that makes the trio more unbearable than ever before.Sure, Thursday's win came at the expense of The Usos, but it was the fact that Ambrose was beaten cleanly that really stood out.Whether the trio sticks around the top of the card, injecting itself into the story involving Roman Reigns and The League of Nations, remains to be seen, but given the fact that it's the only heel act currently generating heel heat, it would behoove WWE Creative to do whatever is necessary to keep it there.
