Liverpool Transfer News: Latest on Jamie Vardy and Magomed Ozdoyev Rumours

Liverpool are set to offer Leicester City's Jamie Vardy a "significant" pay rise in an attempt to lure the in-form striker to Anfield.That's according to the Daily Express and ESPN FC (h/t the Mirror's Aaron Flanagan), with Flanagan adding "it is suggested that preliminary talks are in place between the two parties' representatives and they hope to push through the move in January."The 28-year-old has been in incredible form this season and in his last outing scored for a record 11th consecutive Premier League game, per Squawka Football:Vardy's form stretches back further than that, though, as he also finished last season on a high with his goals and assists helping to keep the Foxes in the divisionin his last 24 league outings, he has contributed 23 goals.Liverpool have hardly been goal-shy under Jurgen Klopp, as Squawka Football reveal:Nevertheless, Vardy could make a useful signing.Star Reds striker Daniel Sturridge is the epitome of a glass cannonthe Englishman has netted 45 times in 72 outings for Liverpool, but the 26-year-old has made just 155 Premier League appearances in his career and only twice has he made more than 14 in one season.With Sturridge almost impossible to rely on, another prolific striker in the ranks would give Liverpool further strength in depth and Vardy's pace and tenacity would see him fit in well with Klopp's pressing game.The club are also reportedly looking to recruit in midfield, with Artur Petrosyan of the Sport Express in Russia (h/t Metro's Tom Olver) reporting Liverpool are targeting Rubin Kazan'sMagomed Ozdoyev:Ozdoyevwho has scored once and assisted three in all competitionshas created 26 chances, won 15 tackles and completed 11 take-ons in the Russian Premier League this term according to Squawka.Further, as Petrosyan notes, the midfielder is good at pressing and could fit in well at Anfield under Klopp.There's certainly a question mark over the player's ability to make the step up to English football, but with such a low reported buyout clause, he'd represent a low-risk acquisition that could prove a real bargain.
