Dabo Swinney Comments on ACC's Place in CFP Picture

Published by Bleacher Report on Sat, 05 Dec 2015

In the event that the Clemson Tigers don't win the ACC Championship on Saturday, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney thinks the ACC is deserving of a spot in the College Football Playoff, per ESPN.com's Andrea Adelson:I mean, we've got three top-10 teams in this league. You know, the third-best team in this league just beat the SEC East champion. We've got a pretty good league and getting better. And getting better quickly with some of the coaches that are coming into this league. I don't think there's any question that the ACC should be wherever, in one of them games. But what do I know' I just hope we're the one there.Clemson will lock up the No. 1 seed in the Final Four if the Tigers can knock off the North Carolina Tar Heels at Bank of America Stadium, in Charlotte. The Tigers have been the Associated Press Top 25 poll's top team since Nov. 8, but they will take on a Tar Heels team that has won 11 in a row since dropping its season opener to the South Carolina Gamecocks. Also in the ACC picture are the Florida State Seminoles, who are sitting at No. 9 in the latest CFP rankings."I don't think about losing, so you're asking the wrong guy that question," Swinney said. "Other people, I just think about winning. That's all I'm focused on is us trying to win the game."Even if Clemson loses to North Carolina, it's tough to see either the Seminoles or Tar Heels jumping to the Final Four. The Stanford Cardinal, should they win the Pac-12 Championship, should get more consideration regarding one of the four spots before North Carolina jumps six spots. North Carolina head coach Larry Fedora, however, sees UNC getting to the Final Four as a realistic possibility, per Adelson:"I most definitely do," Fedora said. "I definitely do. I think if we beat the No. 1 team in the nation, then I believe this team deserves to be in the College Football Playoff."
