Ex-aide urges citizens' co-operation over Boko Haram

INSTEAD of calling for the resignation of President Goodluck Jonathan following increasing Boko Haram insurgency and other violent crimes in the country, Chief Thompson Okorie, an Ijaw elder and a former political adviser in Bayelsa State during Governor Diepreye Alamieyeseigha's administration, has urged Nigerians to rally round the President in his effort to curb the violent activities in the country.Okorie, in a chat with TheGuardian in Yenagoa, lamented that the country did not bargain for the kind of violence going on now and that nobody had anticipated this kind of insurgency.According to him, instead of castigating the President, he should rather be commended on what he had been able to achieve through the security agencies in checking the crime.He said citizens should be patriotic, they should have a role to play and support Jonathan to succeed since he cannot fight the battle all alone as no President before now had faced this kind of ugly security situation.
