Ibile Games enters crucial stage

WITH few days to the end of this year's Lagos State Sports Festival tagged Ibile Games, teams are now in last minutes rush to win medals, as the curtain will be drawn on the championship this weekend.So far, Yaba Local Development Council Area dominance has continued unabated while other councils are relying on individuals' events to garner medals.Rain disrupted the kick off of the athletics event on Monday, but yesterday, athletes took to the track to jostle for top medals in various events.Also yesterday, medals were presented in team events to victorious teams at Rowe Park.Meanwhile, in the softball final, Igbogbo Bayeku defeated Ejigbo by eight runs to seven runs to win gold, while Ifako Ijaiye beat Lagos Island by six runs to two runs to settle for bronze medal.Also in the baseball final, Coker Aguda LCDA defeated Lagos Island by two runs to zero to claim the gold, while Ifako - Ijaiye overcame Ejigbo by four runs to one to win bronze.In judo event, the 66kg male event was won by Sodiq Akinlabi of Lagos Island who beat Iliya Mark of Oriade LCDA to win gold with 20 Point, Ujiagbe Kennedy of Bariga LCDA and Emmanuel Soneye of Iru V/Island won bronze medals with 10 points respectively.In the female 48kg, Balikis Zubaur of Yaba LCDA came first with 50 points, Esther Ayewunmi of Lagos Island LG placed second with 30 points while Elizabeth Omohogion of Bariga came third with 20 points.
