NASSI Rates Lagos High On Micro Business Development

THE National Association of Small Scale Industrialists (NASSI), Lagos Chapter, said efforts made by the Lagos State Government to encourage micro business operators is beginning to yield results.It noted that many of its members have benefited from the states micro credit scheme, thereby helping them to revive their businesses in order to enhance their standard of living.According to Vice President (South West) of the Association, Mr. Duro Kuteyi, small business development is critical to massive employment-creating capacity of any economy. He therefore called on other states of the Federation to follow Lagos example especially in area of industrial estate development.Kuteyi, who spoke at a media interactive session in Lagos at the weekend, said establishment of functional skill acquisition centres and technical colleges by Babatunde Fasholas administration has provided adequate manpower required for sustainable small and medium enterprises (SMEs) development.Considering the central role the state plays in the industrial development of the country, Lagos State Chairman of the Association, Segun Kuti-George, challenged Fashola to see SME development as his personal assignment and do everything he possible to continue to sustain the development agenda he has set for the sector.While calling on members of the NASSI to vote for Fashola, Kuti-George said modalities are in place to secure a regular a forum where issues affecting SMEs in the state would be addressed with the Governor if re-elected into office.He added that tax incentive proposed by NASSI, which is expected to reduce the cost of doing business in the state, is also being addressed by the administration.
