Emmanuel Josiah Udofia, has appealed to Christians to sacrifice Tuesday, May 26 (Holy Tuesday), for the nations governorship election. Some religious leaders had described conduct of election on the day as violation of their faith. Udofia made the appeal in Lagos at a press conference, organised by the church to address national issues.  He said: If Christians can sacrifice that day for the good of Nigeria, personally, I dont see anything evil or bad in it. Chris Irekamba     Presbyterian Prelate Congratulates Jonathan THE Prelate and Moderator of the General Assembly of The Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Most Rev. Prof. Emele Mba Uka, has congratulated President Jonathan on his success at the polls. In a congratulatory statement, the Prelate describing Jonathans victory as a signpost for positive change and a consolidation of the democratic practice in Nigeria. He said the election was the most credible, free and fair in the country.  Uka also commended the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega, for the successful conduct of the polls praising Nigerians for their discipline during the exercise.   This Presidential election in which Dr. Goodluck Jonathan received majority votes in most geopolitical zones of the country, the Prelate said, has amply demonstrated the general acceptance of the President by the Nigerian populace. This is a positive indication that the future of this nation will be bright under Jonathan who is Gods choice for Nigeria at the present time. The Prelate condemned the spate of violence that greeted announcement of Presidential election results in parts of the North, describing it as senseless, uncalled for and unpatriotic. He said the action of such detractors is unfortunate as it is obvious that God is at work in using Jonathan to restore peace, justice, fair play and progress in a country that has been ravaged for decades by corrupt, inept and demonic leadership. The church leader advised the President not to be deterred but remain focused, assuring the President that God and Nigerians are on his side. Uka also advised those who lost in the Presidential elections to join hands with Jonathan in re-building the nation. He reminded them that politics is not a battle of life and death, pointing out that politicians should be gallant both in winning and in losing. He said that since it is on record that Nigerians and international observers declared the election as credible, Nigerians should give peace a chance.
