Nollywood fashion shindig

Published by Guardian on Sun, 24 Apr 2011

THE Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos on Sunday, April 10, was the venue of a fashion show organised by the Nigerian Television Fashion Show in conjunction with Nollywood Worldwide Entertainment. It was an evening of fashion, music, laughter and fun, as the comperes of the show, Julius Agwu and Queen Ahneva, provided guests enough of entertainment that would last a long time. While Agwu buzzed the audience with rib-cracking jokes, Ahneva showed her dancing prowess, gyrating to good beats from the console. The show featured designers such as House of Moofa, Nobel Afrik Students Collections, Zhalima from Port Harcourt, Modela with his Haute Couture and many others.Bimpe Adebambo of Beampeh, who showed a sneak peek of her 2012 Collections, using Daviva fabrics, also rewound guests attention with fabrics from her 2011 Collections. My 2012 collection is titled, Printsplosion-a-la-Berlin and it was inspired mostly by the paintings and graffitti on the Berlin wall and I used Daviva fabrics exclusively as they were gracious to support me with fabrics, said Adebambo. Some musical acts also did their thing on stage. The closing act, Ade Bantu, the Afropolitan Nigerian/German artiste, who debuted an arty kaftan from Beampehs new male line, brought the house down with the Marching to Aso anthem he did with Azadus and Wura Samba. There was also a rendition of Lagos Jump.
