Lagos to disburse N4.5b excess crude oil savings to councils

TO improve the performance of grassroots in Lagos State, the he administration has concluded plans to disburse N4.5 billion from excess crude oil savings to the various Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas in the state.Disclosing this recently, the state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs, Mr. Ademorin Kuye said several measures have been put in place to ensure that 20 LGs and LCDAs live up to expectation. He stressed that arrangement are in top gear to get them work in spite of challenges confronting them.Kuye, speaking during ministerial press briefing at Ikeja, said each of the council chairmen would donate two patrol van each for police to beef up the security in the state.'Implicitly, the councils have been directed to cut down on running cost, allowances, etc. We have equally given all council engineers data collating forms with which they finish the ministry with monthly reports of all activities with this mechanisms, things would be normalised as against what obtains in recent past.'Equally, for there to be congruence of purpose in the scheme of things among two other levels of government, , the Lagos State and the councils, efforts is geared for the release of sum of about N4.5 billion from excess crude oil saving by Mr. Babatunde Fashola in term of funding in order to assist the 20LGs and 37 LCDAs in providing sustainable capital projects, production of agricultural goods, security, etc, for the teeming populace, he said.
