Ekpedo community decries spate of abandoned projects

The Ekpedo Development Association, Akoko-Edo Constituency, Edo State, has called on the state government to complete all abandoned projects in the community.The Secretary-General of the association, Lagos State Branch, Mr Daisi Seriki, made this call during the visit of a member of the state House of Assembly, Honourable Dele Oloruntoba, saying that the community was littered with various abandoned projects by successive governments.According to him, the projects include solar energy project, community secondary school and roads, which have since been abandoned for years.He called on the government to assist the community so that it could attract cottage industries and generate employment opportunities for the youths. 'All these and many more need to be addressed with urgent,' he said.Reiterating the community's determination to support the government, Seriki called on the government to perform its duty as promised during the campaign by the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).He said, 'The Ekpedo community was instrumental to the reclaim of the mandate of the lawmaker, following a re-run election.'Reacting, the lawmaker, Oloruntoba, said that he would use his position to bring development to the community and ensure that all the abandoned projects were rehabilitated.He said that he had visited the community to show appreciation for the support given to him during the re-run election and that the best way to pay back was to bring development to the community.'I regret that Ekpedo has suffered neglect and years of underdevelopment. This is the time to change the situation of our people in this community. That is why I have come to see where we will work in the days ahead,' he said.
