FORMER Internal Affairs Minister, Senator John Nanzip Shagaya, will lead a delegation of Nigerian young golfers to the United State (U.S.) Kids Golf Foundation European Championships, which takes place in Gullane, Scotlandfrom June 5 to 8, 2012.The golfers aged between five and 18 years emerged from the recently concluded Kids Golf International All African Junior Golf Championships, which took place at the IBB Golf Course in Abuja.The event was organised by the Kids Golf International in partnership with the Ladies section of the IBB Golf Club.As the leader of the delegation, Senator Shagaya will also be presenting the Golf Hall of Fame award to the President and Founder of the U.S. Kids Golf Foundation, Dan Van Horn, for his worldwide contribution to the development of golf among young children.Commenting on Shagaya's decision to align with the team, President and founder of Kids Golf International, Prince Kenny Thompson, said he was very delighted to have him with the kids. 'His dedication to golf development in Nigeriais unrivalled and for me, it shows that we did not make any mistake in giving him the Golf of Hall Fame Award.'Among the Nigerian players are Georgia Oboh of Ikeja Golf Club, who will be the official captain of the team, Jordan Thompson (IBB), Samuel Machang (Rayfield, Jos), Judith Nyoon (IBB),GampyalShagaya (IBB), Edward Iloghallu (IBB), Abubakar Aminu (IBB), Mumemgadi Iloghallu (IBB), Aizoe Okaisabor (IBB), Aidevo Okasaibor (IBB), Atahomon Okaisabor (IBB), Tawa Ademola (IBB), Jasmine Ogboru (Ikoyi 1938),Hauwa Abubakar Abdullahi (IBB), Zinkgak Wadak,and AbbaWadak (Rayfield, Jos).The delegation will also includethe current lady captain of IBB Golf Club, Anne Addeh and the immediate past lady captain, Nana Wusalitu Abubakar, who was instrumental to organising the first KGI All African junior championships in partnership with theKids Golf International.
