Oyo cycling boss pledges continuous support for sports development

CHAIRMAN of Oyo State Cycling Association and Vice President of the Nigeria Cycling Federation, Ndubuisi Okorie, has pledged his continuous support for sports development.Speaking after receiving an award as national patron of the Organisation for Grassroots Sports Development (OGSD) at the indoor sports hall of the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Ibadan, Okorie said that support for sports development is a way of helping the country to fight societal ills as well as provide job for the teeming youth.He lauded the efforts of OGSD, which has mainly primary school sports teachers as members, for raising awareness on sports development at the grassroots, adding: 'Though my primary aim is to help cycling to attain enviable height among sports in Nigeria, I will still support other sports in whatever capacity I deem fit.'Okorie, who became the chairman of Oyo State Cycling Association about six years ago, personally rewards Oyo athletes who excel at the National Sports Festival, just as he finances camping exercises for the state's cyclists prior to the festival.
