AYC: Flying Eaglesgrab U-20 WorldCup ticket Face Mali in s/final

NIGERIAS U-20 football team, the Fying Eagles, yesterday won a slot at the 2011 World Youth Championship, in Colombia after emerging group B runner up to the Cubs of Cameroun.In the last group games of the ongoing 17th African Youth Championship (AYC) in South Africa decided simultaneously on Sunday, Nigeria beat The Gambia 2-0 while the Junior Lions of Cameroun forced the Black Satellites of Ghana to a 1-1 draw.Cameroun thus topped on seven points, having beaten The Gambia and Nigeria in the first two games while Nigeria finished on six points, winning two matches and losing one to Cameroun.Meanwhile, Nigeria will play Mali in the semi-final of the competition while Cameroun will tackle the Young Pharaohs of Egypt in the second semi-final.All the semi-finalists will fill Africas quota at Colombia 2011.In view of the adequate training programme of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for the Flying Eagles, the Nigerian lads displayed a poor first-half performance against The Gambians but goals from substitute Stanley Okoro and captain Ramon Azeez (67th and 76th minute) booked a place for the team to the relief of team coach, John Obuh.
