Why Kebbi people are rooting for PDP - Yelwa

Published by Tribune on Mon, 25 Apr 2011

Deputy head of the media team of the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC)of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Abdullahi Yelwa, has said that the performance of the PDP government in the state and at the federal level has endeared the party to the people, adding that victories recorded by the party did not come as a surprise.Yelwa, in an interview, said that the people of Kebbi were especially grateful for the performances put up by the incumbent governor, Saidu Dakingari, in the state. We need to mention that there is a paradigm shift in terms of development in the state. There is a serious bias for the development of the grassroots and that comes with a lot of endorsement from the people, Yelwa said.According to him, the incumbent state government placed education on a priority note, which made it to nearly double the volume of scholarships available to citizens. He stated that as a result of the concern of the state government for education, scholarshipgrants werepromptly paid, while schools were revitalised.People are going with the impression that the governor means well for the stateand that he should continue. The people are happy and there is peace. If you travel to the rural areas, thefeeling is that they are comfortable with a PDP government at the center and in the state. There is an overwhelming feeling that with the level of achievements recorded so far in the state, what is needed is stability and continuity rather that trial and error, he said.
