Kogi spends N180m on FADAMA projects

The Kogi State coordinator for FADAMA,Dr Paul Ogunmola, has said the state spent N180 million on projects in the three senatorial districts of the state.Ogunmola, who stated this at Okene, Kogi State while inspecting some FADAMA projects in Adavi, Okene and Okehi local government areas of the state, said the funds were spent on projects executed under the third phase of the scheme.To sustain the projects, he said, that FADAMA Community Association had been inaugurated into groups, each contributing 10 per cent of the project sum as equity fund. He said the groups would be meeting on a regular basis to review their projects and to take further steps to ensure sustainability of the projects. Ogunmola said his office would continue to remind the beneficiaries of the importance of handling the projects with all the seriousness it deserved.The North Central zonal coordinator of FADAMA III, Mr Musa Dalang, said states had been charged with the responsibility of ensuring proper implementation and growth of FADAMA projects.He expressed satisfaction with the way beneficiaries in the three local government areas visited had utilised the funds allocated to them, saying that the scheme was aimed at reducing poverty level among rural dwellers, especially farmers. The projects inspected included boreholes, garri processing plant, broiler production centres, open market shade, cassava/grain mills, and fish ponds.
