2014 W/Cup qualifier: Eagles ready for Malawi clash

NIGERIA'S Super Eagles players are determined to emerge victorious against Malawi in Saturday's 2014 World Cup qualifier in Blantyre even after they barely downed Namibia.Nigeria earned a vital 1-0 win in Blantyre nine years ago thanks to a John Utaka goal.Utaka again led Nigeria's attack in Sunday's slim 1-0 home win over Namibia in Calabar in a game the Eagles dominated but failed to finish off their opponents and would likely lead the attack in Blantyre.The Montpellier striker told MTNFootball.com the team expect another victory in Malawi at the weekend.'We will ensure another victory in Malawi,' said Utaka, who was replaced Sunday by Ahmed Musa in the second half of the encounter against Namibia.'We will resume training on Tuesday and will take the matches one at a time.'Warri Wolves defender Azubuike Egwuekwe said the Eagles cannot afford a slip on the road against Malawi.'We're blending into a formidable team and so cannot afford not to get a result in Malawi. All the same, we need to work harder to get a positive result in our next game,' said the giant Egwuekwe.Added Uche Kalu: 'It was great to help out as a substitute for us to win against Namibia.'I believe our next game in Malawi will be much better.'Nigeria lead their qualifying group on three points, while Malawi and Kenya have recorded a point each after they played out a goalless draw in Nairobi on Saturday.
