Eagles, Warrior impress Chuckwu

Published by Tribune on Wed, 06 Jun 2012

FORMER Super Eagles Coach, Christian Chukwu has praised the Super Eagles of Nigeria for edging their opponents, Brave Warriors of Namibia in a 2014 World Cup qualifier in Calabar.Eagles struggled against the Southern Africans before Ikechukwu Uche's 83rd minute winner separated both sides.Chukwu also maintained that the goal margin would have been wider if Eagles had converted their chances at goal."Good match, we would have beaten them with more goals if we had used our chances."The most important thing is the three points for now and luckily for us Nigeria's group opponents, Kenya and Malawi played goalless game in Nairobi."I'm confident we'll beat the Namibians in Namibia."The Namibians are not a bad side, they have greatly improved. Keshi must do something to sharpen the attack in next matches."The wings are perfect just that I felt Ejike Uzoenyi would have done better on the left the same as John Utaka on the right but I give in to the coach's tactics."The ages of the players are fine, it looks a young team, I pray they are kept together for more matches."They need to be told not to panic especially when goal is not coming," Chukwu said. The former Nigerian player is upbeat the Eagles' next World Cup opponents, Malawi will fall at their backyard.
