A room at the official residence of the Kaduna State governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Yakowa, was, this morning, gutted by fire.Information available to newsmen had it that an airconditioner in one of the rooms at the resi-dence was affected by power surge. The fire had, however, damaged some parts of the room before it was put out.Yakowa's spokesman, Reuben Buhari, confirmed the development.According to him, the room affected was the private office of the gover-nor, adding that, no injury was recorded and the fire had been completely put out.The Northern States Governors Forum (NSGF) has condoled with Governor Yakowa, urging him to take heart and be strong. Chairman of the forum and governor of Niger State, Dr Mu'azu Aliyu, urged Governor Yakowa not be discouraged by the incident, but should forge ahead with the task of providing good governance to the people of Kaduna State.A related development, which could have been a major fire disaster was, on Tuesday, averted at the Redeemer's University on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that a fire, which broke out at about 7.00 a.m. in a room in one of the hostels, the Queen Esther Hall, was caused by a spark from an air- conditioner, which led to apprehension among the female students in the hostel.
