Residents lament poor road in Akobo

RESIDENTS of Yella/Yawiri Akobo-Ojurin in Lagelu Local Government Area of Oyo State have expressed disgust over the state government's total neglect of the community.Speaking with the Community News, Mr Abiola Adeodu, who resides in Yawiri, lamented that the state of Yawiri road was deplorable and required urgent attention, especially now that the rains are here. According to him, 'the road, dotted by potholes, is wreaking havoc on motorists, as their cars get spoilt, tyres get deflated several times in a week, all because, the authorities concerned, especially the local government, is not seeing anything wrong in having bad roads in the community.'This is disheartening, as repairing the road is part of the many dividends of democracy we expect from our leaders.'Another resident, Madam Useni, said, the bad state of the road was really disrupting the business activities of the area. She stated that 'these days, business seems dull, as many of our customers find it uneasy access to our area, as a result of the bad, mashy road. We really need the local government chairman to rise to the challenge, rehabilitate the Yawiri road, as it is a commercial nerve of the area.
