Ekiti communities get 10 hand pump boreholes

The Ekiti State government has announced that some communities in various parts of the state have benefitted from its rehabilitation of 10 hand pumps and solar-powered water boreholes.The state government, said in a statement from its Ministry of Information and Civic Orientation that completed 10 hand pumps and solar powered boreholes were located at; Omuo, Omuo-Oke, Eda-Ile and Isinbode, all in Ekiti East Local Government Area of the state.The statement quoted the Special Adviser to Governor Kayode Fayemi on Infrastructure and Public Utilities, Mr. Kayode Jegede, as making this disclosure at a meeting with the people of Orin community in Ido/Osi Local Government Area of the state.Jegede was said to have expressed the desire of the state government and the willingness of the Dr. Fayemi-led administration to make potable water affordable and available to all its citizens.According to the statement, 'Jegede said efforts are in top gear to make the four dams in the state functional and produce water at full capacity to meet people's needs,' adding that 'the state government will stop at nothing in making life bearable and worthy of living for its citizens.'Jegede, the statement added, used the occasion to inform the people about the new water master plan for Ekiti State which he hoped if adopted would tackle the numerous problems facing the water sector in the state.He was said to have also called for the state government, adding that he 'called for more community involvement and participation in implementing government policies and programmes.
