We are alleviating poverty with our promos, says First Bank

Published by Guardian on Tue, 26 Apr 2011

FIRST Bank Nigeria Plc has said that its ongoing promo tagged Golden Anniversary Promo, is aimed at alleviating poverty among Nigerians.Specifically, the bank, added that there was urgent need to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor in the country, stressing that equity must be encouraged in the polity. This was the view of the Head, Consumer Banking Products, First Bank, Mrs. Olufunke Smith at the presentation of prizes to new winners at the 10th draw of its Golden Anniversary promotion in Lagos at the weekend.According to Smith, the golden promotion is coming on the heels of the just concluded series of value adding, level changing and consumer-oriented promotions that the bank has held over the past couple of years. She stated further that the bank is celebrating its customers commitments and at the same time rewarding them for their faith and patronage over the years. She said: The First Bank Golden Promo was launched in June 2010 to give customers a lot to cheer and to commemorate the 50th independence anniversary of Nigeria.A customer of the banks Ijora branch, a retired officer of the Nigerian Navy, Mr. Daniel Urieto, and a 24-year old supermarket attendant/sales boy, Mr. Abass Yusuf, were amongst those who received KIA Picanto cars.Urieto, who initially expressed disbelief when he was contacted on his winning, urged Nigerians to ensure that they participate in such promotions to enjoy the numerous benefits associated with them.I have been saving with First Bank and other banks for many years, I never believed that I will ever win anything from these banks, he said.My unbelief was also evident on the day I got a call that I have won a car. The call was first picked by my son who later informed me of the development. I dismissed it as fraudulent until I called the number and was told that I have truly won a car. I call on everyone to open an account with First Bank and participate in the promotion, as there are numerous opportunities in it.
