GHANAS head of delegation, Jordan Anagblah, was a sad man after his team crashed out of the African Youth Championship. In this interview after his teams exit, Anagblah told Adeyinka Adedipe in Johannesburg that the Satellites and the Flying Eagles have players who are not supposed to be at the tournament. Excerpts:Your team came to this competition as defending champion but crashed out in the first round. What went wrongIt is really sad but whom do we blame We have to blame ourselves for our exit because we do not believe in ourselves, thats how I see it. The players do not believe in themselves and when you come with players who do not believe in themselves, this is the result you get. Will heads role after this exitDefinitely, heads will role because that would equally have happened even if we had qualified for the World Cup.Does this mean that coach Orlando Wellington will lose his jobNo, I dont think so but I think he should learn a lesson or two from this and know the kind of players to work with in future.Ghanaian football is on the decline with the Meteors, Starlets and now the Satellites crashing in the qualifier of a major event. What is wrong after a good performance of the Black Stars at the World Cup last year For the Meteors, I dont think anybody should weep for Ghana because the U-20 team that won the World Cup should have graduated into the team. Instead, the coach decided to do something else. But if he had called in the boys that won the World Cup, the result would have been different. So, no one should cry for us because we shot ourselves in the leg.You must have seen all the four semi-final qualifiers play. Where do you think the pendulum of victory will swing on ThursdayI think Cameroun or Mali will pick the AYC title because of their approach to the game. The players in the Ghanaian team, to me, do not have what it takes to play in big-time competitions like this. The Camerounians and the Malians have courageous players, who put their minds in the game.Everyone can see how they responded when they knew that a 0-1 loss to Ghana would put them in second place in Group B. They raised their game and they got a draw, which sent them back to the top of the table. That is the hallmark of courageous players and if you look at the competition, it is only Cameroun and Mali teams that have this type of players. I believe that the winner of this tournament will come from one of those two teams. Are you dismissing the chances of Nigeria despite that your team lost to the Flying EaglesYes, the Nigerians are like the Ghanaians, they are cowards. They play good football but dont have the ability to take the game to their opponents. Nigeria and Egypt qualified for the semi-final by divine intervention. The teams that can take African football to the top in the World Youth Championship are Mali and Cameroun.Nigeria and Egypt need to beef up their teams for the World Cup. Nigeria should also call up players who are courageous and want to play and not players who know how to play but are unwillingly to do so. If you have players who want to play it is good, but if you have good players who know how to play and do not want to play, then there is a problem. When you look at the championship, what would be your low and high pointsI would say the highpoint is the talent that I have seen in some of the teams here, while the organisation, which is not up to the scratch, is my low point. The whole problem started with the Libyan crises and no one knew when or where the competition would take place. The zeal that the players would have taken to Libya waned and that brought down the value of the competition. You realise that when you watch all the teams, they are not up to world class level but I hope those countries would go and improve their teams. But the Malians and Camerouns are ready for the World Cup with the type of players they have here.
